Mrs. Gladys Grossman
Principal

County Road School and
Luther Lee Emerson School

A spirit and appreciation of the love of teaching and learning permeates the County Road and Luther Lee Emerson Schools where success is celebrated. In a nurturing, active learning environment children are involved in engaging curricula where their academic, social and emotional growth is cultivated. Each child’s uniqueness and potential is recognized as students are encouraged to explore their interests and strengths. Individual differences from a child who needs support to a child who needs enrichment is paramount in kindergarten through fourth grade. By utilizing Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, students have an opportunity to work in many different areas with the guiding principle being: “It’s not how smart we are, but how we are smart.”

Regionally developed curricula and assessment tools as well as state mandates such as the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJASK 3 and NJASK 4) are all part of the educational process. To provide for the changes, needs and mandates of today’s students, the staff is involved in local and regional staff development programs. Trust, respect and support exists in a cooperative, collaborative environment.

A shared vision establishes a learning partnership among students, staff, parents, and the community, enabling students to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. For further information, please go to http://fcserver.nvnet.org/~grossman/ where you will find resources and important dates.
