FITNESSGRAM
The FITNESSGRAM physical fitness test is administered to all physical education students at the end of the first marking period each year. The results are entered into a computer program which prints a report card that is mailed to each studentÕs home early in January.
The FITNESSGRAM assessment measures three components of physical fitness which have been identified as being important because of their relationship to overall health and optimal functioning. The three components are: AEROBIC CAPACITY, BODY COMPOSITION, AND MUSCLE FITNESS (strength, endurance, and flexibility).
Students are prepared for the testing program through instruction in the meaning of fitness and through conditioning to help prepare physically for the test program. Following the testing, students with need of remediation are given an opportunity to improve their fitness levels through instruction in weight training and aerobic conditioning.
