Biomedical Technology

Northern Valley is proud to host seven Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at both our Demarest and Old Tappan campuses.  Our CTE programs include Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Technology, Architecture, Marketing, Theatre, and Child Development.   In addition to the programs we offer,  Bergen County Technical Schools hosts two additional CTE programs at NVD and NVOT that are open to students throughout Bergen County:  the Institute for Interactive Design Technology and the Institute for Sports Medicine and Exercise Science.

Theatre

The CTE programs offered at Northern Valley have been approved by the NJ Department of Education and include a progressive series of courses in the field as well as opportunities for work based learning, dual enrollment, industry valued credentials, school-based enterprises, community and industry partnerships, and career and technical education student organizations.  As a result, we are able to ensure that our CTE  programs are  current and focused on relevant, transferable skills that our students need for the future.

Sports Medicine

Career and Technical Education provides students with unique opportunities to blend academic and technical skills to enhance learning experiences and best prepare for post-secondary education and career plans.  CTE programs are aligned to national key industry clusters and help students find their passion by engaging in hands-on problem solving, research, and career preparatory skills.  All CTE programs must align to local industries that are considered to be high wage, high skill, and high demand. At Northern Valley, we combined student interest with data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and the NJ Department of Labor to make certain our programs will prepare students not only for the current job market, but also for the anticipated market over the next decade.
